A great post Christina. I have books and books of my own plans and thoughts – I enjoy the process of planning as much as the doing of the actual writing work and can easily get lost down a rabbit hole of ideas, diagrams and projects.
What I find helps me the most with all time management is assigning a priority to my tasks. At its simplest – A= important, B = not important enough to do until all my A tasks are done. It is a variation of Brian Tracy advice. A priority task takes me purposefully towards my goal in a meaningful way – so it can be a whole range of things from administration, research, writing, website but the actual task must contribute to my goal. I keep asking myself am I doing an A task or a B task?
Really great blog, Christina. You said something that hit me … plan your [family] commitments and priorities first before your writing blocks. That makes so much sense. Why didn’t I think of that! I guess I do plan the family first, but not fully aware that’s what I’m doing. Your way will provide so much better focus and more benefit to family and writing. Thanks Christina … and a big HUG!

Hi Paul,
I love this advice! Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment!
How do you ensure that you don’t have too many A tasks?
Thank you,
Christina
