Undercharging has always been a big struggle for me, for the reasons you outline. I remember reading in one of Bob Bly’s books that it’s wise to quote projects in the medium-high to high end of your fee schedule (I use AWAI’s annual pricing guide for mine). Ultimately, what you charge – as you say – isn’t about what the client can afford, but the value you place on yourself.
