The Reality Blog: You Don’t Need Talent As Much As You Need This

  1. What a great insight, Mindy. I never really thought about that before, but you’re right. In this day and age especially, you really need to stand out. I, like you, will want to re-visit the copy on my website. I’ll keep you posted on the results. Suppose I should give Nick a nod, too, eh? 🙂

    1. Thanks, Keith!
I’ll look forward to hearing about what you do on your website. I’m not quite sure about mine … sticking out isn’t my stronger point, you know what I mean? But on the other hand, why not? Could make for a fascinating journey. At least, that’s what I’ll tell myself once I make the changes and start seeing results!

  2. Nice insights, Mindy. I never really thought about that distinction before.

What I did this weekend, I hope will improve my performance. Using the Theory of Constraints (TOC) on my entire business model, I have found ways to amplify what is working and ways to eliminate the bottlenecks in my processes. So, I’m going to test run the new plans this week and see how it goes.

The Theory of Constraints (TOC) was a strategic thinking philosophy introduced by Dr. Eliyahu M. Goldratt. I read his book, The Goal, about 5 years ago but did not do anything with the ideas. But I’m now using TOC to see if it will help me achieve my goals for this year.

    1. Interesting, Sal! I’d love to hear more on the TOC — I’ve never heard of it before. Though I’ve got to say, I’m SURE I have several bottlenecks to deal with. Let me know how it helps you — I’ll take a peek over at your posts on the forum too, to see what you’ve written about it.

      Thanks for sharing!

  3. Thanks, a lot Mindy. As an ad agency copywriter, this really resonated with me. I love stories, too, and in the DreamWorks animation, when Megamind was asked what’s the difference between a villain and a super villain, he said, and I quote, “PRESENTATION!” I still have a long way to go with setting up as a web writer – I don’t have a website yet, just a personal blog- but this is something I will be remembering going forward. Thanks again.
