My own writing career tells me that Andrew is right. It’s really hard to master one skill when there are so many other options. There comes a point in skill development when the learning curve is so steep that you want to give up and try something else. Don’t do it. Stay with it until the curve begins to flatten out.
In the writing field, experience is just about the only teacher. AWAI experts can give you guidelines ’til the cows come home but until you do the work, you cannot internalize the skill.
The cows come home when it’s milking time, just so you know. That’s about dusk. They have been working hard at being cows all day long. So take a tip from them. Do the work. The hay comes at the end of the day.

Keep up the good work, Andrew!
Hi Craig,
I couldn’t agree more. There’s no substitute for experience… and the only way to gain experience is to put your head down and do the work.
Regards.
