We’re one of those families… the ones who still send Christmas cards with a letter inside about our year.
Only last year at Christmas, there wasn’t much to report. Like most everyone else, COVID meant we didn’t do a lot of travelling. And we didn’t really have any major milestones. Which left me stumped about what to put in our letter.
Then I came up with the harebrained idea of having everyone in my family answer a series of questions about their year. And I took those answers and worked them into a letter.
I loved putting it together… and a lot of people on my card list mentioned how much they enjoyed reading it.
So, new tradition, I suppose.
This year, I thought I’d share the questions my family is answering about their year, so you might have a little fun thinking about them as well.
- What was the best thing you watched or read this year?
- What was the best thing you bought this year?
- What is something you learned about yourself this year?
- What is something you did this year that had an unexpected result?
- What’s something that made you laugh really hard this year?
- What did you do to help someone you don’t know this year?
- What’s something new you tried this year?
Whether you journal about the answers, put them into your own holiday letter, or just ask them around the dinner table sometime during the holiday season, I hope you have fun looking back on some of the little moments that made your year unique.
