Reality Blog: Sell Yourself on Your Decisions

  1. Hi Jennifer!

Great first post. I love your raw honesty. So many times writers of these kinds of posts try and make you believe they’ve got it together and have it all figured out. They don’t.

Anyway, I started off the year with a deep dive into Heather’s marketing plan challenge. Consistent marketing is a do or die for small businesses. So, I’m continuing to use LinkedIn for prospecting. First steps are cleaning up my outreach templates and sending connection requests daily. I also want to post weekly so I’m currently brainstorming topics.

I also believe that having a website to steer prospects from LinkedIn to my own real estate is crucial. I have written the content and designed the pages. I just need to do some retouching of my headshots and I’ll go live by the end of March.

Finally, email is an important part of growing my business. So, I’ll be working on a lead magnet to incentivize signups on my website.

    Take care, Jennifer.

    1. Oh goodness, I had a good laugh at the idea of having it all together 😀 That’s definitely not me! Hopefully, our fellow Digital Copywriters can learn from my mistakes.

Heather’s marketing plan challenge is a great place to start. And consistent marketing is key. Heather did a webinar recently where she talked about spending the first hour of every day marketing yourself. I thought that was a fantastic idea. Now, I just need to put it into practice.

I hear you on the website thing. It’s not necessary; plenty of successful copywriters got started without one. But as a customer, I won’t do business with someone who doesn’t have a website. Websites make it easier to find the information I want about a business. And it makes the business seem more professional.

Sounds like you are off to a great start this year, Bill. I’ll look forward to hearing about your progress.
